HISTORY
Bock Yuan Fannee literally mean ‘Juan’s Flayed Horse’, ie ‘Shanks’ Pony’.
Formed in 1975 as a men’s group performing Manx sword and stick dances, Bock Yuan Fannee soon became a permanent mixed group which aimed to recreate the dances collected by Mona Douglas. They represented the Island at international festivals such as Lowender Peran and Festival Interceltique de Lorient for decades. In more recent times, Bock Yuan Fannee was based in the north of the Isle of Man and in 2007 they performed in Norway and Liverpool as a combined group with the Manx Folk Dance Society.

An exhibition dance composed, appropriately enough, by five dancers, and now a standard in the Bock Yuan Fannee dance repertoire.
Cummaghyn means ‘shapes’ in Manx Gaelic, which is what this dance depicts so well. It is danced to Manx traditional tune She Bosun dy row ayns Dover s'thie.
