manx celtic music and dance

SCRAN

Scran is a dynamic young band from the Isle of Man. Ranging in age from 12 to 18, its talented members play, sing and dance.

As part of the Bree traditional music youth education movement organised by Culture Vannin, Scran reflects the flourishing Manx traditional music scene. Since 2015, the band has been fostering young talent and over the years has helped to produce successful Manx musicians, such as Mera Royle, Isla Callister, Owen Williams and Jack Mclean.

Scran, which is Manx for common people, has produced two albums of Manx music – Nane [Manx for the number one] and Jees [number two!]

The band is mentored by well-known fiddle and keyboard player David Kilgallon (Mec Lir).

They recently represented the Isle of Man at Festival Interceltique de Lorient and came fourth in the final of the prestigious Trophée Loïc Raison band competition.

Don't miss the invigorating blend of Manx tradition and innovation that Scran brings to the stage!
