As part of the Cooish Manx language festival, Culture Vannin present a range of free Scottish and Manx song & music workshops with Joy Dunlop, Ruth Keggin and Ron Jappy:
Gaelic Song workshops - Peel Methodist Church on Atholl Street, Peel
[Aimed at adults, but ages 11+ welcome with an accompanying adult. No booking necessary!]
10.30am – 11.30am: Manx Gaelic traditional song workshop
With Ruth Keggin Gell. Suitable for absolute beginners.
11.45am – 12.45pm: Scottish Gaelic traditional song workshop
With Joy Dunlop. Suitable for absolute beginners.
1.30pm – 3pm: Manx and Scottish Gaelic Choral workshop
Learn easy part-songs, with Joy Dunlop and Ruth Keggin Gell.
Everyone is very welcome – you don’t have to have spoken or sung in Manx or Scottish Gaelic before!

Instrumental workshops - Thie dy Vea Retreat, Tynwald Road in Peel
[Aimed at adults of proficient ability on their instrument/s, but ages 14+ welcome with an accompanying adult. Booking required!]
10.30am - 11.45am: Scottish traditional tunes for adult instrumentalists
Aimed at musicians who are fairly proficient on their instrument, come and learn a Scottish tune or two from multi-instrumentalist Ron Jappy. Ron will teach by ear, but musical notation can be available if you would prefer to see the dots! Let us know your preference.

12.00 - 1.15pm Trad guitar accompaniment skills with Ron Jappy
Ron is one of Scotland’s prominent go to guitarists for traditional and folk music. Learn some top tips for accompanying traditional music and song on the guitar.
