MANX FOLK AWARDS 2016 ~ AUNDYRYN KIAULL-THEAY VANNIN
A record number of children aged 4-18 took part in the 5th Manx Folk Awards last month. Stretched over 4 days of competitions, students from all over the Island played, sang, recited, danced, composed and generally had a fun time! Organised by Jo Callister [Department of Education and Children], Chloe Woolley [Culture Vannin] and Anthea Young [Manx National Heritage], the Manx Folk Awards also has a great team of voluntary stewards, adjudicators and a film-maker, and this year had the bonus of IOM College art students Kiera and Caitlin as official photographers. MFA is indebted to the Youth Arts Centre in Douglas and Rosemount Trinity Church for providing ideal venues. Well done to all the children and teachers who worked so hard!
