EVPD at the dedication of the Mona's Queen III anchor memorial on 29 May at Kallow Point, Port St Mary
A quartet of pipers from Ellan Vannin Pipe Band were honoured to play a part in the ceremony at the recent dedication of the Mona's Queen III Anchor Memorial at Kallow Point, Port St Mary. The band played at the repatriation of the anchor to the Island in November last year at the invitation of the IOM Steam Packet Co, and were pleased to have been invited by Port St Mary Commissioners to add to the final phase of the proceedings. Pipe Major Paul Davenport said: "Bringing the Mona's Queen anchor home to it's final resting place in Port St Mary is the result of a tremendous effort by a lot of people. The band were pleased to have been able to play a very small part in what has been a very emotive and memorable event." The small group of pipers who were available , played to a large number of guests as they arrived, then lead the procession of dignitaries from the Memorial to the nearby Pavilion Cafe for refreshments at the close of the ceremony."
