We're delighted to share the news that Beccy Hurst has graduated from the University of Newcastle with an honours degree in folk and traditional music.
Daughter of the late Vicky Hurst and the late Pat Cully of Port Erin, Beccy’s love of tradtional music was fostered by her auntie, Wendy Hurst. Beccy plays whistles and concertina and is a talented and established composer.
An ex CRHS pupil, Beccy is a talented performer and teacher who has played and recorded with The Newspaper Dresses, Pobble, Ruby Biscoe-Taylor and Beki Collings and many others. She has also played for dance groups and is a valued tutor for the Bree traditional youth movement.
Beccy features on the latest Blass CD from MHF and has taught and performed on and off Island with her own band, the Beccy Hurst Trio.
