Hartes Ease
Hartes Ease is an early music group specialising in vocal and instrumental music of the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
The group was formed in 1989 and has taken its name from a well known almayne by Anthony Holborne (1547 – 1602).
The repertoire includes ‘art’ music of the court, as well as songs and dances heard in the homes and taverns of renaissance Britain and Europe.
Hartes Ease gives historically informed performances of vocal and instrumental music played on copies of original instruments of the period. Members of the group have been tutored by early music performers of international standing who also research performance authenticity.
